A young prince celebrated his myndighetsdag. He rises from his domineering mother and traveling around the world. With him he has a dream about the love of a white swan he met at Swan Lake. He visits the country music tells about and meet as a black swan, identical to the white swan but different. He was pleased then vexed. Perhaps they are two sides of the same creature, maybe it's about ideals set against verklighet.Prinsen flees back to his svansjö. There, among the animals in the water, he seeks what he lost - but faced a new beginning.

Swan Lake - Ballet the ballet - was premiered in 1877 and was regarded almost as a fiasco. Only after Tchaikovsky's death, in a brand new choreography, was born in 1895 the version we call the classic. Since then it has been subjected to numerous revisions and strain, additions, abbreviations, and local events. 1987 Mats Ek created a new version of the Cullberg Ballet which became a worldwide success and now for the first time set up at the Royal Opera. In this version, the prince starting point: "He is the story's hub, if not its nerve, which is Odette / Odile. What happens to him, and why? My version of the tale has no answer, but is an attempt to portray the question. " - Mats Ek
