Onegin, cynical and despairing, scornfully rejects the love of the young Tatyana, flirting instead with her sister Olga, which results in tragedy. Much later, he returns as a repentant and broken man to meet a dramatic fate.
Lust, love and passion infuses the ballet about Onegin's and Tatyana's tragic love story. The head of the Stuttgart ballet, John Cranko, created a modern full-length classic for his company in 1965 after the Russian writer Alexander Pushkin's verse novel Eugene Onegin to specially selected Tchaikovsky Music. Since then, the grand ballet Onegin is danced all over the world and praised for its dramatic role portraits, beautiful set design and music, and for its lyrical and intense choreography in Crankos personal and multifaceted movement language.
