For centuries composing was a profession entirely dominated by men, but as the female emancipation process progressed, more and more female composers emerged during the latter part of the 1800s . They were pioneers and were often met with prejudice and distrust because of their gender. Now they will be heard again at the Royal Opera!
Many of these early female composers are relatively unknown to the public today. The Royal Academy of Music and the project Living Musical Heritage want to acknowledge previously unreleased music and in this collaboration with the Royal Opera six female Composers can now be heard again. During the fall 2013 and spring 2014 four chamber concerts will be giveb in the Golden Foyer. Laura Netzel Thursday, September 12 at 18:00
