The King is back!

“Return of the King”, starring Kevin Doyle as Elvis Presley, puts you in the front seat of the best comeback the entertainment industry has ever seen. The show runs in Dublin’s Tivoli Theatre from February 24th 2012.

Elvis burst on the scene in 1954 with his unique blend of blues and country that created the template for all rock and roll acts. Blazing a trail through the rest of the ‘50s he became the first world superstar, his face recognised from Alaska to Australia.

By 1968 however his career had taken an unforseen dip. Tied in to lucrative but creatively stifling movie contracts he was no longer relevant to a generation that had moved past Presley to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

When NBC approached the King for a Christmas TV Special Elvis, going against his manager’s wishes, decided to try an edgy format that would push him back into the public consciousness…if the gamble paid off.

This show, “Return of the King” gives you a seat at the taping of that TV Special in Burbank studios and then follows Elvis through to his return to live music the following year in the newly built International Hotel, Las Vegas.

Kevin Doyle, star of the hugely successful “The Elvis Presley Story”, reprises his role as the king as he carefully recreates the sound and personality of the star as he regains his crown. This is a compelling show that mixes big production numbers with the first ‘unplugged’ session where you get as close as you can to the spirit of Elvis Presley:
