Dido and Aeneas are two young people who, because of war and conflict, are forced to flee their homelands. They meet and fall head over heals in love , but the surrounding environment do not take kindly to their love. She is the queen of Carthage, and he is a war hero from Troy. Can you trust a leader who falls in love with a stranger? Is love possible in wartime? And what makes you a real hero? The Mediterranean is the venue for this drama about love and world politics. The composer Henry Purcell's music drama Dido and Aeneas from 1689 was performed for the students of that time. Now we see it worked for today's high school audience in the Young at Opera production.
