The opera Medea is playing at the Royal Opera AB through February 26, 2016.

In Daniel Börtz newly written opera is Euripides' ancient tragedy from 431 f. Kr. - Modernized by Agneta Pleijel and Jan Post - an intense psychological experience where Medea's furious, bloody revenge is central.

Daniel Börtz is one of Sweden's most acclaimed and prolific composer and has written several operas before, including Bacchae premiered, directed by Ingmar Bergman, 1991.

Medea is a story of love, betrayal and revenge. Medea, which is one of world literature's most famous characters, has abandoned his own family, sacrificed everything for her husband Jason and arrived as a refugee in a new country. Once there, she left by Jason bitter may regret their decision.

The set directed by Stefan Larsson, theater manager at the Betty Nansen Teatret of Copenhagen. Medea is his debut as an opera director.

The big title role kreeras by soprano Emma Vetter, who had nothing but praise for his interpretation. As Jason heard the baritone Karl-Magnus Fredriksson and the role of Amman made by Marianne Eklöf. In addition, participating soloists, 27 ladies from the Royal Opera Chorus and Jonas Malmsjö as narrator.

On the podium stands in Germany verksamme Ringborg, who in 2015 premiered his Gefors Notorious at the Gothenburg Opera. Ringborg was Svenska Dagbladet's Opera Prize winners in 2014 and tops the magazine Opus fresh list for 2015.
