Doktor Faustus will will play at Folkteatern Nov. 9 through Jan. 4, 2020.
Have you heard the story of Faustus? You can go see it at Folkteatern. If you want. You can do exactly what you want. You can close your eyes and think about what you crave most and snap with your fingers and then you have it in your hand. What would prevent you? Morality? Stop it. Life is too short for morality. You can look back at your life and pick out the temptations that plagued you the worst and fall for them once and for all. Why not? What do you have to lose? You might hurt someone. You may lose yourself, but hey, you win the world. Faustus tore himself into two and sold his soul to the devil. What did you do?
Doktor Faustus, written and directed by Erik Holmström, comes back to Folkteatern in the autumn of 2019 after having tremendous success in 2018.
Erik Holmström was awarded the Swedish Theater Critics' Association's Theater Prize 2018 in order to "radically renew the design language of the contemporary doll theater in intense interaction with the dramatic theater ... interpretations in social-critical yet magical realism and brilliant blackness". We revisit the actors Andrea Edwards, Pelle Grytt and Malin Morgan in the company of about twenty different characters in inimitable doll format.
Since the premiere one year ago, Erik Holmström has continued to perform theater in various places in Sweden and received several awards and nominations: Swedish Theater Critics' Association's Theater Prize 2018, The Evening Post's Thali Prize 2018, Gold Bag Nomination in the category Best Short Film for "We Just Sounds" and his and Malmö Dockteater's set of "Skvalpet" is selected for the spring Performing Arts Biennial.
Join Erik Holmström's absurd and inimitable world of dolls. Here everything is possible. You just have to fall for the temptation and pay the price. Buy ticket and sell two hours of your life to Folkteatern.
