During summer most theatres are closed in Sweden but instead the open air theatres opens. In Stockholm the communal theatre brings musicals, plays and music events to different stages around Stockholm as Parkteatern, and it is for free! It is very popular so be there on time in order to get a seat. People bring hampers or buy something to eat from the food truck while they wait for the show to start.
The program includes among others:

-Jazz in the park
-Bird on the wire, A tribute to Leonard Cohen
-Twelfth night (which is played in English
-Peter Pan and the pirates
-Don Juan
-In the Diary of Birgit Nilsson (a tribute to Birgit Nilsson and other stars of her time.
-Pettson and Findus (for children)
-Smile of a summer night by Ingmar Berman
-Vegas in Vitan, a tribute to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin among others
So if you are in Stockholm you should really check out the calendar, bring a hamper and enjoy the open air theatre.
