West End Players Guild has announced open auditions for the last two shows of its 100th season of theatre in the CentrAl West End.

On Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2:00 p.m. the Guild will host auditions for Shelagh Stevenson's Memory of Water, directed by Tom Kopp. On Saturday, Dec. 11 at 1:00 p.m. the Guild will host auditions for Kathryn Chetkovich's Acts of Love, directed by Robert Ashton. Both auditions will be held in the Guild's performance space at the Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Ave.

Memory of Water will be presented Feb. 4-6 and Feb. 11-13, 2011. Roles are available for three women and two men with acting age range of 30-40. In the best tradition of British black humor, this award-winning comedy proves that death can reveal the absurdity of life. Three newly-bereaved sisters bicker wildly over their mother's funeral arrangements, chafe at their well-worn family roles, compare notes on the unsatisfactory men in their lives and share their very mixed memories of a highly feminine working-class mother. This gloriously funny play skillfully charts the joyous and painful territory of family relationships with insight and compassion.

Acts of Love, a St. Louis premiere, will be presented Apr. 1-3 and Apr. 8-10, 2011. Roles are available for two men (one late 50s/early 60s and one late 20s/early 30's) and two women (one late 40's and one late 20s/early 30s). A couple celebrating their twentieth wedding anniversary at their summer cottage is joined by their ne'er-do-well son and his new girlfriend, Annie, who is thrilled to discover that her boyfriend's mother is one of her academic heroines. As the weekend unfolds, it becomes unclear whether Annie's presence is a matter of fate, coincidence or deliberate manipulation. The tension between the women leads to deep questions about the intertwined acts of love and deceit that have brought them together.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the scripts. Rehearsals for Memory of Water will begin in late November. Rehearsals for Acts of Love will begin in late February. West End Players Guild is a non-Equity professional company. All roles will be cast from the open auditions. A stipend will be paid to actors in these productions.

Further information on the two productions, including plot synopses and a list of roles to be cast, is available online at http://www.westendplayers.org/information/auditions.
