Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents “The Children's Hour" by Lillian Hellman. The production runs from Sept. 26-30 and Oct. 3-7, in the Emerson Studio Theatre, 130 Edgar Road. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m., except Sundays, which presents 2 p.m. matinees only. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

The 1934 classic play, "The Children's Hour," is one of the great successes of distinguished writer Lillian Hellman. After a malicious youngster starts a devastating lie about two women who run a boarding school for girls, the rumor turns to scandal. As the young girl comes to understand the power she wields, she sticks by her story, which precipitates tragedy for the women. It is later discovered that the gossip was pure invention, but it is too late, irreparable damage has been done.

Guest director Tim Ocel directs "The Children's Hour.”
