Vogt, Mujica, Teeter, Spencer, Rousouli and White Set For MUNY's HAIRSPRAY 8/3 - 8/9

HAIRSPRAY will play the MUNY from August 3rd thru the 9th, it will be directed by Matt Lenz with choreography by Michele Lynch. It features a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, and a score by five-time Academy Award nominee Marc Shaiman (who co-wrote the music and lyrics for the acclaimed animated musical, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut) and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

HAIRSPRAY will star Paul Vogt as Edna Turnblad, Joline Mujica as Tracy Turnblad, Lara Teeter as Wilbur Turnblad, Kecia Lewis Evans as Motormouth Maybelle, Ashley Spencer as Amber Von Tussle, Meggie Cansler as Penny Pingleton, Constantine Rousouli as Link Larkin and ChristIan White as Seaweed Stubbs.

It's 1962. The ‘50s are out and Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion - to dance. She wins a spot on a local TV dance program and overnight is transformed from an outsider to teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of a heartthrob, and integrate a television show without denting her "do?" only in HAIRSPRAY!

Hairspray, which celebrated its sixth anniversary on Broadway in August 2008, is the winner of eight 2003 Tony Awards, including best musical, best actor, best actress, best featured actor, best score, best book, best director, and best costume design. Hairspray also swept every one of the year's best musical awards, winning, in addition to the Tony, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Drama League Award.
