THE SHOW: Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti

PERFORMANCE: December 10 at 9:30 AM

DETAILS: Students arrive at 9 and take a tour of the UAO facility, watch a presentation on opera history, learn about the Amahl story, and watch the production. The program concludes at 11 a.m.

ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES: Tickets $47-$25, $15 Child Ticket

SYNOPSIS: Journey back in time to the Middle East during the first century, and meet the young, crippled shepherd, Amahl, and his mother. One mysterious night, a knock at their door reveals three kings on a long journey. Will Amahl's Mother's dream of a better life for her disabled son be answered? Discover the kings' wondrous generosity and Amahl's selflessness as a miracle ensues. You are sure to be uplifted by this inspiring story of faith and hope presented in one-act. Amahl is the beginning of a holiday tradition at UAO and was originally commissioned by NBC's Radio City Music Hall .

ABOUT UAO: In 1994, Scott Schoonover founded Union Avenue Opera to provide a venue for young, talented singers, musicians, directors and technicians and to bring affordable, professional opera in original languages to the St. Louis community. Now completing its 15th season, UAO continues to grow.
