The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis has received a $25,000 grant from the PNC Foundation through its PNC Arts Alive program.

The grant will support A Gnome for Christmas, presented by The Rep's Imaginary Theatre Company. In addition to backing the production's regional tour of schools and community centers as well as public performances, the grant will provide for a milestone in Rep history.

On 11 a.m. December 10, The Rep will live-stream a performance of A Gnome for Christmas from the Heagney Theatre at Nerinx Hall High School, making it the first-ever full-length Rep show that the public can watch online. The stream will be available for everyone, free of charge.

Additional public performances of A Gnome for Christmas run December 17-23 at Heagney Theatre.

A Gnome for Christmas, with book by Sarah Brandt and music and lyrics by Stephen James Neale, was written specifically for the Imaginary Theatre Company. Adapted from a Scandinavian folk tale, it is a warm-hearted holiday musical intended for all ages. Thanks to PNC's grant, it will reach diverse audiences in schools throughout the St. Louis region and beyond.

PNC Arts Alive is a multi-year, $2 million initiative from The PNC Foundation that supports visual and performing arts groups with the goal of increasing arts access and engagement in new and innovative ways. Now in its sixth year, the prestigious PNC Arts Alive program granted $250,000 to a select group of nine arts organizations in the Greater St. Louis area for bold thinking around increasing arts access and engagement. This is The Rep's first year receiving PNC Arts Alive funding.

"The arts community across St. Louis is very active with a wide selection of theater, dance and concerts," said Michael Scully, PNC regional president for St. Louis. "Through the PNC Arts Alive initiative, we can contribute to the region's outstanding cultural arts and support new and imaginative arts programs that help enrich our community and strengthen our local economy."
