Muny Kids bring musical journey to the Sheldon for Saturday matinee.

The Sheldon presents The Muny Kids: Just Imagine, Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall. Take a musical journey with a young girl searching for true happiness - a story told through great musical theatre numbers. The Muny is a St. Louis institution, bringing Broadway music to life every summer for over 90 years. The Muny Kids have the energy and talent to make this a perfect concert for young and old!

The Muny Kids and Muny Teens performing troupes serve as good will ambassadors to the people of St. Louis and the surrounding region. A performance and training ground for talented youngsters, the program spotlights children, age 7 to 13, and teenagers, age 14 to 18, with exceptional voice and dance talent, stage presence and a discipline that make them standouts among their peers.

The rigorous audition process begins in early spring, when The Muny auditions and casts its Children and Teen Choruses for its summer season in Forest Park . Those performers cast in a summer production are then invited to further audition for The Muny Kids and Muny Teens. As an added bonus, many of the professionals employed by The Muny during the summer eagerly lend their talents, expertise and knowledge to assist in the training of the Muny Kids and Muny Teens.

Making about 75 performances yearly, they have performed for a broad spectrum of events, including the Variety Club telethon, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, First Night, Fair St. Louis, Raging Rivers Water Park , as well as numerous children's charitable events.
