Orange Girls presents Donald Margulies' award-winning Collected Stories July 17 - Aug. 2

ST. LOUIS -The Orange Girls Theatre company faces the concepts of a story's  authorship and ownership head on in Collected Stories, the second show of its 2009 season presented July 17 through August 2 at COCA's Anheuser-Busch Black Box Theater.

In Donald Margulies' critically acclaimed play, an established author invites an ambitious young fan into her cramped Manhattan apartment to assist with the writing of her memoirs. As the boundaries between mentor and student blur, these two formidable women discover the unanticipated costs of translating a private life into a public account.

The Orange Girls' production of Collected Stories stars Orange Girls co-founder and Kevin Kline Award nominee Meghan Maguire and Kevin Kline Award winner Nancy Lewis. The production is directed by Edward Coffield.

Collected Stories runs July 17 through August 2 with performances at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $18 for students and older adults and $15 for season subscribers. Tickets are $15 for patrons who bring personal care items to the Saturday performances. The items will be donated to Karen House, a local charity that helps women and children in need.

Following Collected Stories' exploration of friendship and betrayal, the Orange Girls will continue to expose the unexpected depth behind stereotypical female roles with the slapstick journey of a fairytale princess in David Lindsay-Abaire's Wonder of the World Sept. 25 through Oct. 11.

The Orange Girls is the resident theater company at COCA and all performances are held at the Anheuser-Busch Black Box Theater at COCA, located at 524 Trinity Ave., in the University City Loop. Free babysitting is available for children ages 1-12 during the Sunday matinees. To reserve tickets or babysitting services, please call 314-520-9557 or visit www.orangegirls.org.

The Orange Girls is a not-for-profit theater company dedicated to redefining women's roles on stage and in the world. Founded in 2005 by local actresses Brooke Edwards, Michelle Hand and Meghan Maguire, the company brings together actors, directors and designers of both sexes to create performances that garner a new audience for women's contributions to the theatrical arts. The Orange Girls have received several honors in the community, including multiple Kevin Kline nominations and four Kevin Kline Awards for Outstanding Production of a Play, Leading Actress, Supporting Actress and Ensemble.
