Mustard Seed Theatre presents Fires in the Mirror by playwright Anna Deavere Smith. The play chronicles the viewpoints of people connected to the Crown Heights, Brooklyn, crisis that occurred in 1991.
Michelle Hand and Rory Lipede star, and each play a variety of characters who speak about their situation, representing differing points of view and opinions concerning the events and issues surrounding the crisis. Anna Deveare Smith conducted interviews with participants, and these conversations become monologues that form the crux of the play.
Lori Adams directs the production, which will be performed at Fontbonne University in their Fine Arts Theatre at 6800 Wydown Blvd.
Performances take place January 28 - February 7, 2010, with shows Thursday - Saturday at 8pm, and on Sundays at 2pm. Additional matinees are scheduled for 2/2/10 at 11am and 2/4 at 12:30pm.
