Mustard Seed Theatre, a professional company in residence at Fontbonne University, announces an expanded five-event season that includes two new plays, a South-African drama, a musical and a Shakespeare play.

Mustard Seed Theatre's fifth season will open and close with a celebration of New Plays. The world premiere of Falling, by Artistic Director Deanna Jent, will run September 1-11, 2011. Both funny and frightening, the play explores the life of a family caring for an aggressive teen-aged boy with severe autism. Falling will be directed by Lori Adams, who directed Mustard Seed Theatre's acclaimed production of Fires in the Mirror.

Musical Director Joe Schoen (Smoke on the Mountain) returns to Mustard Seed for Godspell, which will run November 18 - December 11, 2011. This musical salute to the Gospel of Matthew will be set in the streets of downtown St. Louis.

Athol Fugard's Playland will run February 2 - February 12, 2012. Featuring J. Samuel Davis and Charlie Barron, the play is a piercing look at the effects of war and the struggle for redemption.

From April 13 - April 29, 2012, Mustard Seed Theatre will present The Winter's Tale. Shakespeare's story of jealousy, betrayal, murder and forbidden love will be set in modern day Seattle and the wilderness of Alaska. Infused with Native American music and myth, this production will explore the possibility of authentic transformation in a virtual world.

The season will close with a staged reading of the winning script from Mustard Seed Theatre's New Play Contest, which seeks to cultivate scripts exploring questions of faith and social justice.

All shows are performed in the Black Box Theatre at Fontbonne University. For more information, visit www.mustardseedtheatre.com or phone 314-719-8060.
