Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani. The production runs from Feb. 16-20 and Feb. 23-27, in the Emerson Studio Theatre, 130 Edgar Road.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine as the aurora borealis shines down on the almost-town causing strange happenings, some challenging, some wonderful. Eight couples find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. One woman finds love in the most unlikely of places: as she pays respects to her deceased husband. One man has a condition which makes him unable to experience pain, that is until the right person comes along...wielding an ironing board. While one couple waits anxiously for the other shoe to drop in their marriage, across town a couple of best friends take the first tentative steps towards romance.

By turns touching, comic, warm, gentle and altogether surprising, ALMOST, MAINE is a whimsical look at the joys and perils of romance.

Curtain time is 7:30 p.m., except Sundays, which presents 2 p.m. matinees only. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

Visiting director John McCluggage directs ALMOST, MAINE.
