Starring versatile comedian Cody Lyman, DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN, Broadway's history-making comedy about the battle of the sexes, will make a triumphant return to the Playhouse @ Westport Plaza October 10-29. Tickets may be purchased through MetroTix at www.metrotix.com or by calling 314/534-1111. Additionally, tickets will be available at the Playhouse @ Westport Plaza box office one hour prior to show time. All seats are $60.

DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN holds the record as the longest-running solo play in Broadway history. It has been seen in 45 countries and translated into 18 different languages. With hilarious insight on contemporary feminism, masculine sensitivity and the erogenous zone, CAVEMAN mines the common themes in relationships that go straight through the funny bone and into the heart. Full of wonderful scenarios that celebrate the differences between men and women, CAVEMAN is a must see for anyone who is, has ever been, or would like to be in a relationship. In addition to winning the hearts of audiences worldwide, CAVEMAN has also garnered praise from a multitude of marriage and family therapists across the nation for its humorous exploration of the gender gap.

The wildly popular comedy was written by Rob Becker over a three year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN has since become a peacemaker in the ongoing misunderstandings between men and women.

The show originally opened in San Francisco in 1991 and soon moved to Dallas. After a year in Dallas-now an unqualified hit- CAVEMAN went on to sold-out engagements in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Chicago, before opening on Broadway in 1995. After running two and a half years, playing 702 performances at the Helen Hayes Theater, DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN entered the record books as the longest-running solo play in Broadway history, and has been touring theaters all around the globe ever since.

The New York Times called the show, "A nationwide comic phenomenon!" "'Defending the Caveman' is so perceptive, so witty, so sweetly understanding, you can't help feeling exhilarated," raved The Boston Globe. And The Chicago Sun-Times said, "'Defending the Caveman' goes straight to the funny bone. Its affection for women and its light-hearted defense of men makes it a winner for both sexes!"

DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN is produced by Theater Mogul - a global theatrical Production Company with shows in more than 40 countries and in 27 different languages. Its primary offices are in New York City and Zurich, Switzerland.

The Playhouse @ Westport Plaza is located at 635 Westport Plaza in Maryland Heights, Missouri and is a venue filling a niche for a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway entertainment that would otherwise not find its way to the St. Louis area.
