Chamber Project St. Louis presents BOLD: uncommon spirit, a concert featuring big, bold, beautiful music for winds, strings, and piano that celebrates the human spirit. Join them on November 17th at the 560 Music Center in U City, MO. Tickets available now.

American icon Joan Tower honors the strength of women, dedicating her Fanfare to Tania León. Tania León in turn celebrates her vibrant Latin American cultural heritage in Tumbao. The fabled merry prankster of lore, Till Eulenspiegel gets a playful reimagining for mixed quintet and the confidence and vigor of youth are captured in Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Nonet for winds, strings and piano.

This concert begins with two thrilling solo piano works, brought to life by virtuosic pianist Nina Ferrigno on the full size Steinway Grand piano on the stage of the E. Des Lee Theater.  [See Nina's bio below].

Legendary Grammy Award winning composer Joan Tower dedicates her Fanfare for the Uncommon Women #6 to Pulitzer Prize winning Cuban-American composer Tania León. León dedicates Cuban rhythm infused Tambao to Cuban singer Celia Cruz. Each composer creates bold, powerful soundscapes that celebrate and uplift the strength and vitality of these incredible women. From these big bold musical statements, the concert moves to a more playful narrative, with a reimagined version of Richard Strauss' orchestra piece Till Eulenspiegel, this one for 5 players. Till Eulenspeigle gets himself into all sorts of trouble, brashly playing tricks on people, until they've had enough…

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's rarely performed lush and romantic Nonet will feature Nina Ferrigno on piano along with members of the St. Louis Symphony joining Chamber Project St. Louis for this large work for winds, strings and piano. Afro British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's music languished for a century after his untimely death, and is now being revived to its rightful place on stage.
