COCA Announces Summer Art Camps

COCA campers have been getting out of the heat and into creative activities all summer long at COCA. While many camps are at capacity, there is availability in some sessions. For an up-to-date list of openings, consult patron services at the front desk or at (314) 725-6555.

Consider these options for the July 11 session in U. City or at Whitfield School:

Ages 4-5
Whitfield
Rodeo Roundup: A camp for cowboy/cowgirl "wannabes" with songs, art, folklore and final "performance".
COCA Kingdom: Dragons, princesses and knights in shining armour populate this creative experience.

Ages 6-8
U.City
Dragon's Lair: Dragon legends from Harry Potter to Dragon Ball Z inspire creativity.
Squish Splat: Young artists revel in paper maché, clay, and other squishy materials.

Ages 9-11
U.City:
Hogwarts: Campers create their own production based on the popular Harry Potter stories.
Gleeful: Broadway musicals and pop songs inspire young singers.
Whitfield
The COCA Clues: A "who dunnit" camp with scavenger hunts and final "mysterious" performance.

Ages 10-15

Flip and Fly: Campers create a production on trapeze, low wire, trampoline and more.
Whitfield
Hallows & Horcruxes (ages 11-14): Campers will create their own tale through video, performance or art.

Ages 12-18

Sondheim Chorale: Singers tackle Sondheim's complex music and witty lyrics.

A is for....Exhibition Book for Sale

The Millstone Gallery will continue to exhibit the family-friendly A is for... artwork through August 13. Twenty-six artists, representing a variety of mediums, celebrate the alphabet with work that represents the intersection of art + family.
Now on sale at COCA - a beautiful exhibition book featuring all of the artwork, artists' statements and biographies of the contributing artists created by Falk Harrison, Speckhard Photography and The Firecracker Press.
Summer Camp Musical

Little Shop of Horrors Friday, July 22 at 7:00pm Saturday, July 23 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm

Students 12-18 perform this lively musical with music by Alan Menken, book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, directed by Leanne Matthews, music direction by Phil Woodmore and choreography by Lee Nolting and Chris Page.

Creative Thinking & Purposeful Networking

From COCAbiz --the new creative business division of COCA - it's bizTHINK3! The evening's main activity will be a surprise, but expect to participate in a fun, collaborative activity with some of St. Louis' most innovative business people, artists and entrepreneurs. bizTHINK 3 will offer the chance to engage in unique, creative activities that will not only help you get to know your peers at the event, but will also provide you with tools to help your business grow Drinks and light appetizers will be provided Sponsored by COCAbiz and the Missouri History Museum. Official Hotel of COCA The Cheshire

COCA is grateful for the generosity of The Cheshire, which will be the St. Louis "home" for visiting performers, choreographers and guest speakers this season at COCA.

A St. Louis tradition with roots dating back to the 1920s, The Cheshire embodies the charm and authenticity of a traditional British inn with all the modern conveniences of today. After undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation, this local treasure will be reborn, opening on August 5.

Evening of Wine, Jewelry, and Hors d'Oeuvres

Emmis Communications is hosting a night of complimentary wine from  Wines That Rock, fine jewelry by Stella & Dot, and hors d'oeuvres to benefit COCA. The event is at The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Gallery 3648 Washington Boulevard.

Summer Intensive

Contemporary Dance with Jennifer Golonka August 8-12 9:00am - 3:00pm

High intermediate and advanced dancers (ages 12+) from all studios may train with Jennifer Golonka, New York-based dancer, choreographer and teacher. Golonka has danced with Battleworks, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Camille A. Brown, among others. Her training has taken her from the School of American Ballet to the Martha Graham School and to the Limon Institute. Her classes and choreography are a mixture of the three, stressing change in direction, quick timing and the weight and use of the torso.

$250 ($225 for COCA members) plus supply fee. Register now.
