New Line Theatre's production of "Bonnie & Clyde" tied with Stages St. Louis' rendition of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" with nine nominations apiece for the St. Louis Theater Circle Awards to lead nominations for all shows produced by local professional theater companies in 2014.

Recognition of stellar productions by nearly two dozen local theater companies will take center stage when the St. Louis Theater Circle presents its third annual awards ceremony honoring the best in local professional theater, on stage and behind the scenes, on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), 524 Trinity Avenue in University City.

This year's ceremony again will be televised live by HEC-TV, beginning with 'red carpet' interviews at 6:30 p.m. The gala itself begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 apiece and can be reserved by contacting the COCA box office at 314-725-6555, info@cocastl.org or mailing to 524 Trinity Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63130. Tickets will also be available at the COCA box office beginning at 6 p.m. on the night of the event.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis led all companies with 23 nominations, followed by The Muny with 21. "Bonnie & Clyde" and "How to Succeed..." were closely followed at eight nominations apiece by Stray Dog Theatre's "Cabaret," "Seussical" at The Muny and "The Liar," which was produced by St. Louis Shakespeare.

The awards program will take place in COCA's Founders' Theatre, which seats 400 people. A pre-ceremony buffet and open bar will be situated just outside the theater entrancee. With Love Catering, which services a number of theaters locally including The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Stages St. Louis, will again cater the event, offering food and drinks available on a cash basis. Tickets for the pre-ceremony buffet must be reserved and paid for in advance. Menu description and buffet tickets that may be reserved and paid for in advance can be obtained at 314-637-7907 or www.withlovecatering.com.

Local composer and pianist Joe Dreyer will provide musical accompaniment throughout the presentation. Professional photographer Jill Ritter Lindberg will photograph festivities.

HEC-TV to Telecast March 23 Ceremony at COCA 'Live' and Stream 'Live' on Its Web Site.

The mission of the St. Louis Theater Circle is simple: to honor St. Louis professional theater. Other cities around the country, such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington D.C., pay tribute to their own local theatrical productions with similar awards programs.

In addition to the numerous nomination categories, two special awards will be presented at this year's event. Donna Northcott, founder and artistic director of St. Louis Shakespeare, will be honored for guiding her company for more than 30 years. In March St. Louis Shakespeare will become just the seventh theater troupe in the United States to have produced all of The Bard's plays in its repertoire.

Agnes Wilcox also will be honored as founder and artistic director of Prison Performing Arts, which involves incarcerated youth and adults in the performing arts to inspire intellectual curiosity and personal development, nurturing the discipline, teamwork and communication skills necessary for successful re-entry into society.

Both women are retiring from the companies they founded. St. Louis Shakespeare and Prison Performing Arts will continue their work under new artistic directors Suki Peters and Christopher Limber, respectively.

Nominations for the St. Louis Theater Circle Awards are divided into categories for musicals, dramas and comedies. More than 120 local professional theatrical productions were presented in the St. Louis area in 2014.
