2nd Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition Holds Finals Tonight at Fox Theatre

On Saturday, March 31st, 32 metro area high schools acts continued their journey toward college scholarships, special awards, prizes and performance opportunities throughout the city by competing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition Semi-finals.  Performing arts professionals judged the groups and narrowed the acts to 11 who will move on to the finals tonight, April 27th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (list of acts attached and can be found on our website).  The final competition is a Broadway style show and is FREE and open to the public.  Tickets are required and available now at no charge at The Fox box office and through Metrotix

The judges for the finals, with careers spanning film, TV, and Broadway are Ken Page, native St. Louisan and Broadway performer); Carl Nappa Independent Producer & Engineer and Executive Director of Technology & Sound Engineering at Nelly’s ex’treme Institute in St. Louis; Megan Larche, New York Casting Director & Producer with Fox Theatricals; Mike Isaacson, Artistic Director of the Muny and Producer with Fox Theatricals in New York; Steven Woolf, Artistic Director with Repertory Theatre, STL; Ward Stare, Resident Conductor with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra;  Adam Sage, Artistic Director of Missouri Ballet Theatre;  and special guest judge Phyllis Smith, a native St. Louisan and longtime ensemble cast member in NBC’s hit series “The Office.” A complete list of judges with photos and bios can be found on the FPACF website. Students are being judged on technical ability, stage presence, interpretation, originality and content.  

Broadway actor, director and choreographer Tony Parise (also a St. Louis native) will write the script and direct the finals, working with the final acts to prepare them to compete in front of a live audience at The Fox.  The Nine Network will videotape the final event for a one-hour St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase special broadcast on Monday, May 21st at 7 p.m.  Contestants’ stories are being chronicled through The Nine Network’s “Our Story” program, which supplies students with Flip cameras to document their journey through the competition process.  These videos are available on our own channelgraciously donated by SchoolTube.com.
