The Dutch National Ballet, which has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, is the largest ballet company in the Netherlands, with its 80 dancers, and enjoys well-deserved international prestige.
Its dancers have performed with prestigious companies, such as the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Ballet, Royal Ballet of London, San Francisco Ballet or New York City Ballet. Its current artistic director, the former dancer, Ted Brandsen, was an independent choreographer and director of the West Australian Ballet, prior to returning to the National Ballet.
Referring to the new and extraordinary production of the extremely romantic ballet by Adolphe Adam, “Giselle”, the New York Times has said: “…a ballet of immortal beauty, a convincing story combined with the most enchanting ballet technique” and The Guardian said: “The Dutch National Ballet can continue for years with this new “Giselle”.
