Around Wagner and cinema at Gran Teatre del Liceu

Works by Wagner will be performed alongside music from the soundtracks of Star Wars, The Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Lord of the Rings, which include compositions for large symphony orchestras.

Several of Wagner's operas provided inspiration for these works, which adopt techniques that are chiefly associated with him. One is the Leitmotiv – a frequently repeated melody that identifies a particular character, location or situation.
