KIM Kwang-Bo, one of the most sought-after directors in Korea, returns with a new production following the successful collaboration with LG Arts Center on Henrik Ibsen’s ‘Pillars of Society’ in 2014. KIM now turns his attention to ‘I was punched for sticking out slightly’, the play written by Japanese playwright TSUCHIDA Hideo who earned fame for writing TV dramas ‘Tokyo Tower’ and Saito-san’. In ‘I was punched……’ six prison mates and two guards draw a line on the prison compounds as a prank, which puts the prison into uncontrollable situation afterwards. It illustrates in a comical yet acerbic style, the gradual changes that take place in the state of minds of these eight characters and ultimately allows us to reflect on the stark realities of human relationships we maintain. Filled with tension and heightened energy between the eight characters, KIM’s new production will reaffirm his abilities in meticulous characterization and detailed psychological descriptions.
