Have you ever been curious about what can happen to a person who was suddenly dragged to hell from the best day of one's life?

Well, you are in luck as MONTE CRISTO the Musical (a.k.a The Count of Monte Cristo) is the answer to your curiosity. With grand music, a captivating story packed with drama, love, and revenge, MONTE CRISTO celebrates its 10th anniversary in Korea!

Based on the novel by the same name by Alexandre Dumas, MONTE CRISTO the Musical follows the life of Edmond Dantès, a young naive second mate of a French ship whose life plummeted on the happiest day of his life. Framed by the people he trusted, Edmond is locked up for life and after 15 years of suffering, with the help of an inmate, later mentor, Abbè Fria, he comes back under the name of a wealthy Count of Monte Cristo. Consumed by revenge, Edmond slowly plans a way to bring hell to those who have betrayed him.

Starting from the beginning, MONTE CRISTO completely allures the audience with an ominous prologue number and a video clip showing the start of Edmond's journey. The correspondence of the video and the set was quite impressive, with the ending of the video naturally connecting to reveal the ship set.

Another aspect of MONTE CRISTO that stands out is its grand numbers. There is a wide variety including classical numbers and some that seem more modern with rock components. Especially, the first act ends with a huge bang as Edmond learns about Mercédès's new marriage and sings 'Hell to Your Doorstep' filled with rage.

With its thrilling story, powerful numbers, and intricate sets, MONTE CRISTO ticks off all the boxes when it comes to a musical. For the 10th anniversary production, several actors who have participated in previous productions came together. For the role of Edmond Dantès/Monte Cristo, Um Ki Joon, Kai, Shin Sung Rok were cast and Ok Joo Hyun, Lina, and Lee Ji Hye portray the beautiful Mercédès.

The last journey of Monte Cristo ends on March 28. Do not miss the opportunity to board the pirate ship and enjoy the great music by Frank Wildhorn and the captivating story by Jack Murphy.
