As such, the theatre has added an extra show on Saturday, March 16 at 3 PM. Dont delay ~ its time to seize the day and grab your ticket to Newsies!Meet Jack Kelly, a newsboy who dreams of life away from the big city. When Jack and his fellow newsies face publishing giant Joseph Pulitzers plan to raise prices at the newsboys expense, they decide it is time to act ~ one for all and all for one! Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this Disney musical has it all high-energy dance, strong vocals and an engaging score.Alex Cowsert (Million Dollar Quartet, Hairspray) leads the charge as Jack Kelly with Emily Moore (Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) by his side as reporter Katherine Plummer. The rest of the gang includes Jacob Calder (Beauty and the Beast, West Side Story) as Crutchie and Town newcomer John Allen as Davey. Kyran Burkett (Beauty and the Beast) and Luke Young (A Christmas Story) share the role of Daveys cheeky younger brother Les. Offering safe haven to the boys is Lee Martin (The Buddy Holly Story, Hairspray) in the role of Medda Larkin. Jeremy Hansard (My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins) steps into the role of publisher Joseph Pulitzer. Can the idealistic newsboys defeat the powerful newspaper tycoon?Newsies is directed by Jamie Carr Harrington, with musical direction by Augie Gil and choreography by Katie Hilliger. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM. Tickets are available via towntheatre.com or by calling 803-799-2510. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 12 noon 5 PM with hours extend to curtain on weekdays; Saturdays 3 PM to curtain and Sundays 1 PM to curtain.
