The South Carolina Theatre Association has been awarded a $2,940 grant by the South Carolina Arts Commission for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The support1 will allow the organization to bring convention keynotes and workshop presenters to our annual convention. The grant will support the organization's mission to Connect, Create and Cultivate Theatre opportunities for residents across the state. This year's convention will be the 51st event that will bring students, educators, artists and administrators together from all over the state and beyond to focus on how Theatre can have an impact on the individual and collective voices of our citizens.

"We are honored to be given this support by the SC Arts Commission which has been a leader in our state for the arts for so long," said SCTA President Harry Culpepper, Jr. "This funding helps us achieve our mission of making sure theatre is accessible from our youth to our senior citizens in a variety of capacities from educational theatre to community theatre to professional theatre as we work to become the destination to support all things theatre in SC." Several neighboring companies, organizations and/or individuals are helping SCTA meet its obligation of matching the Arts Commission grant with local dollars. Those who are supporting the grant project are: the City of Aiken, USC Aiken, Clemson University, Productions Unlimited Inc, and zBananas .

South Carolina residents can see how the Arts Commission grant and local funds are benefiting the The South Carolina Theatre Association by joining us at the 51st Convention "Raising Our Voice: The Power of Theatre" on the campus of University of South Carolina - Aiken in November or by visiting our website to see what opportunities they can take advantage of.
