The South Carolina Theatre Association Executive Board unanimously approved the change in organizational leadership from Administrative Director to Executive Director at its Board meeting June 11, 2018 to be effective August 1, 2018. Anita Sleeman was selected as the organization's first Executive Director. She has been with SCTA for over three years as Administrative Director and associated with the organization as Division Chair and a Board Member for over twenty years. Sleeman's leadership and experience will assist in the smooth transition for the organization. She has been responsible for rendering development advice, strategic planning, and overseeing the general operation of the organization.
"I am very excited about taking on this new challenge," Sleeman said. "I feel passionately about SCTA and theatre in South Carolina, and I plan on building upon what our Executive Board has accomplished for us over the past four years."

Anita Sleeman is currently the owner of "zBananas" an administrative consulting firm since July 2014. From November 2012 through June of 2014 she served as Executive Director for Greenville's resident professional ballet company CBT (Carolina Ballet theatre). Originally from Hammond, Indiana, she holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from St. Mary's Notre Dame. Anita was the founding Executive Artistic Director of FIRE (Fountain Inn Repertory Experience), a theatre company in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. She produced and/or directed over 25 productions in its first five seasons and served as Assistant Center Director where she was responsible for programming, audience development, marketing, grant writing, and running the day-to-day operations. Anita also founded the Fountain Inn Arts Academy and was responsible for educational programming, marketing, and faculty recruitment. She was the founding Fine Arts Department Chair at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Greenville, and taught at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School and Prince of Peace Catholic School. She served as Chapter Director of the South Carolina Thespians, a division of Educational Theatre Association. Anita has guest directed for the South Carolina Children's Theatre and Foothills Playhouse in Easley. Her theatre programs have been recognized by the American High School Theatre Festival in 2006 and USA Today High School Musical of the Year in 2007, and she was recognized as the 2005 Secondary Teacher of the Year by SCTA. She has served as Chapter Director for the South Carolina Thespians, South Carolina State Representative to the American Association of Community Theatre's, and on the Board of the South Carolina Theatre Association. She currently serves as President of Theatre on the Move, Inc a non-profit theatre company that provides theatre for seniors, by seniors and with seniors.
