Electric City Playhouse will present MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW by Douglas Poate from February 4th through the 27th, 2010. The production will be directed by Jimmy O. Burdette and upstate bluegrass musicians Mitch and Perry Kneown will star. The pre-show will feature The Jimmy O Trio.
This funny and touching story delves into the backstage and personal life of two brothers, Ralph and Carter Stanley. It contains some of the great songs made famous by The Stanley Brothers. It reveals their struggle to find and audience for their music. Folk, traditional gospel, and bluegrass were the music of their home in the hills of Virginia and they remained loyal to their roots. It includes their 2002 Grammy Award-winning songs from the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
The show runs Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8PM, with a Sunday matinee at 3PM. Tickets are not yet available.
This mission of Electric City Playhouse is to provide a variety of entertaining, quality theatre experiences to a diverse spectrum of the community and surrounding areas; and to partner with other community organizations in our growth, outreach, and education of the Arts.
