A Southern Exposure, written by Kelley Kingston-Strayer and Directed by Jim Rasheed, is a comedy-drama set in a small town in present day Kentucky. It is the story of Callie Belle Hurt whose idea of love is so unrealistic it could be lifted from the pages of a romance novel. Raised by Hattie, her cantankerous, Bible-thumping grandmother with a cast-iron will and her two eccentric, doting aunts, Callie Belle stuns her family when she announces that she has fallen in love and is moving to New York to live with her boyfriend.

No roles are precast, auditions are open to everyone and scripts will be provided at the audition. ECP is looking for four female roles. Callie Belle Hurt, in her early 20's, determined to live her own life, with a clear sense of right and wrong, and gradually evolves from casual to chic as the play progresses. Hattie Belle Hurt, Callie Belle's Grandmother, in her late 70's, has had a hard life and lives by a rigid moral code, but is still loving and wants the best for her Granddaughter. Ida Mae, Hattie's older sister, is a no-nonsense personality with a meat and potatoes outlook on life, but still plays the peacemaker and is forever stepping between Callie Belle and Hattie. She walks with a slight limp. Mattie is a sweet-natured, child-like, and full of wonder, although she suffers from dementia. Even though she dons a series of progressively elaborate wigs as the play progresses, she never loses her dignity. The play will run September 29 through October 9, Thursday - Sunday.
