Hometown favorite Seph Stanek returns to the Temple of Israel in Greenville this Sunday to join Brittany Hogan Alomar and Jack Cohan in the final, and most anticipated, installment of the "Music on Sunday" concert series.
Now in its 16th year, "Music on Sunday" is recognized as the "best concert value" in South Carolina, presenting the very finest in musical entertainment. This concert, officially titled "Jack Cohan and Friends," has been a part of the series for seven years, and was conceptualized by Cohan to bring back local professionals, like Stanek, who have established themselves in the world of performing outside of South Carolina.
With Stanek and Alomar, "Jack Cohan and Friends" is the most attended event in
the concert series, with a trajectory to break yet another record in attendance this year.
The trio will present a wide variety of Broadway selections; highlights include "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Vanilla Ice Cream," "Over the Rainbow," and "All I Ask of You." A complimentary wine and cheese reception will follow the program.
A fourth-year company member of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players,
Seph Stanek has completed ten Off-Broadway contracts in New York City, four concerts at
Carnegie Hall, and four national/international tours. Recent concerts include a concert with
Kristin Chenoweth and the Concert Pops of Long Island (NY), the Breast Cancer Foundation's Annual Gala in the Cayman Islands, and an exclusive concert for the United Nations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Temple of Dendur. Seph will make his Broadway debut next year as The Scribe in Akhenaten the Musical.
Brittany Hogan Alomar holds a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Furman University. She has performed leading roles in numerous opera and musical theater productions and was chosen to sing the National Anthem at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs. Brittany has developed her own thriving private voice studio in Greenville, South Carolina, and is also a voice faculty member at the SC Governor's School for the Discovery and Academy summer programs.
Jack Cohan made his orchestral debut with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra at the age of 14, and at age 18 was selected for the Canadian Young Artists Tour, performing throughout Canada. He has both a Masters and Doctorate in Piano Performance from Indiana University. Jack has served as Director of Arts and lectures at the University of Wisconsin, Director of the Arts Complex at the University of Connecticut, and as Executive Director of Greenville's Peace Center for the Performing Arts.
