In one generation Altan rose to the ranks of Ireland’s most admired traditional groups. Founded by the late Frankie Kennedy and the ethereal Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, the group plays the music of Donegal (Northern Ireland) and Scotland. On touching old Irish songs to hard-hitting reels and jigs, the band seamlessly blends dazzling instrumental prowess with Mairéad’s gorgeously delicate vocals.
