The music festival Dowagiac Summer in the City takes place Thursday July 28 through Saturday July 30, 2011. Hosted by the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce and now in its 26th year, the three-day event will feature a variety of bands performing at Beckwith Park.
Performances include: The Outta Towners, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday; Wildfire from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday; and Due Process from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Folk musician Trae Marie Tillis performs at The Gift of Namaste, 206 S. Front St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The singer and songwriter considers herself a storyteller.
Also new to the daytime lineup will be Al Mott of Cassopolis. The one-man band will perform rock standards from noon to 2 p.m. Friday outside Dowagiac's new senior center on Front Street.
The summertime bash will feature more than 45 hours of vocal and instrumental music, sidewalk sales and food vendors.
