Join Ariel, Flounder, Ursula and the gang for a production that will bring families together for the Holiday season.
Based on Hans Christian Andersen's tale, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a beautiful love story for the ages. Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue life above sea with Prince Eric and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
The Round Barn Theatre production is directed by Nathan Mittleman. The resident creative team including Executive Producer and Set Designer Richard Pletcher, Production Stage Manager Garth Moritz, Sound Designer and Audio Engineer Shayna Graverson, Costume Designer Ashley Alverth, and Property Master Ryan Schisler will be joined by Lighting Designer Randa Meierhenry and Musical Director Paul Rigano. The flight effects and acrobatic silks were supplied by RBT alum Jason Whicker. He came from Florida to install the silks, and then headed to Broadway to help rig the flying effects for the new musical "Spongebob Squarepants".
Round Barn Theatre patrons will recognize a few faces from the 2017 Core Company including Randa Merierhenry, Travis Bird, Amelia Lowry, Mikaela Brielle, Kristin Brintnall, Martin Flowers, Akria Watanabe, Katherine Barnes, and Lauren Morgan as Ariel. These artists have been a constant presence this season and have entertained thousands of RBT patrons. Some folks are returning to RBT from previous seasons including James Edward Dauphin who was last seen in "Crazy for You" last year, Michael Quinachet who starred in "Driving Miss Daisy" and played many roles in "Beauty and the Beast", Kaitlin Bell, who was a Munchkin in Oz, and a kid in "A Christmas Story", and RBT Artistic Director Amber Burgess will be playing Ursula. New-comers Jamila Hunter, Dion Stover, Dalton Tyler Isaac, Jake Bell, Nicky Mendelsohn, and J. Morgan Shaffo round out this incredible ensemble of stage artists.
The Little Mermaid opens on Friday, November 10, and continues through Sunday, December 31, with 2 p.m. matinees and 8 p.m. evening performances. The Little Mermaid will be translated by American Sign Language interpreters for the deaf on November 18, 2017. Assisted listening devices are available upon request at all performances.
