The Barn Theatre presents Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning "A Streetcar Named Desire" now playing through Aug. 7.
Blanche Dubois, a faded Southern belle played by Penelope Alex, arrives on the doorstep of her sister, Stella (Meg Schneider). Blanche's arrival hits a raw nerve with Stella's gruff, working-class husband, Stanley Kowalski (Eric Parker). Stanley's friend Mitch will be played by Roy Brown.
Performance times are 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 5 p.m. Sundays. The Barn is located on Michigan 96.
Tickets are $34 and can be reserved by calling 269-731-4121 or visiting barntheatre.com.
We are one of the nation's oldest Equity resident summer-stock theatres as well as a longtime Michigan entertainment destination. Sixty years and nearly 500 performances under the same management is a benchmark nearly unparalleled in the theatre industry, yet it's a benchmark we boast at the Barn Theatre thanks to founders Jack Ragotzy, an Obie award-winning director, and his wife Betty Ebert Ragotzy. With $875 in their pockets, the Ragotzys founded the Barn in 1946 as the Village Players in nearby Richland.
