South Bend Civic Theatre will kick off its 10th year in their new home with "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" opening January 27 and running every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ending February 12.
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's first produced collaboration in 1970. The award-winning story of Joseph is a truly timeless Old Testament tale, set to a multitude of musical genres, spanning country and western, rock and roll, calypso and even the 1920s Charleston.
Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob was given a multicolored coat by his father, causing jealousy among his 12 brothers who try to kill him but instead, sell him into slavery. Because Joseph has vivid dreams and the gift to foretell the future, he endures many adventures and finds success in his talents.
