Guts: The Story of BooBoo & Me demonstrates the power of theatre and its ability to help heal and more. And MaryBeth Saunders uses theatre for more than just catharsis. This powerful, one-woman play is a poignant, autobiographical journey of two sisters driven apart by mental illness and brought back together again, just in time.
On April 21 and 22, local actress, writer, and singer, MaryBeth Saunders will share a very personal story about her sister's death from anorexia nervosa. The show is captivating due to its dark nature but also because of its moments of humor and poignancy as the author manages to balance the dark and the light.
This solo show was one of only 13 chosen to premiere at the Chicago 2017 Solo Festival and was performed to a sold out house.
Marybeth is a familiar face around South Bend Civic Theatre, having appeared in numerous shows including The Cripple of Inishmaan during the 2016 Season.
Staged in the Warner Studio on Friday and Saturday nights, April 21 and 22 only, tickets are $15. Performances begin at 7:30 pm. There will be an opportunity to meet Ms Saunders at a Wine Reception following the Friday night show.
