Submission guidelines:
Submit up to six images of existing or planned new work in JPG format.
Submission images do not need to be high resolution, but the image quality should be set to "high". The resolution should be no larger than 72 dpi and the file size for each image should be under 1MB. It is suggested that the low-resolution version be 8.5" (w) x 11" (h) @ 72 dpi (jpeg).
If you are selected as a finalist, you will be asked to submit high-resolution files by mid- to late-August. These high-resolution files will be JPG or TIFF at 5400px (w) X 7196 px (h) @ 300 dpi.
Tips for submitting images:
Do not put your name, signature, or website on the image itself. Each artist will be credited on www.sbct.org. See examples of previous years' posters at
If you use text within your work, know that larger text will read better and bright, bold colors behind the text with great contrast will be easier to see. Text with lots of small detail behind it or thin fonts will be difficult to see and your work will not be selected.
The majority of promotional artwork appears in portrait orientation.
Additional versions you are welcome to include (but are not required)
square (Facebook profiles, Twitter, and Instagram)
banner (Facebook cover photo, website header).
Bright colors and images with high contrast and/or a central focus typically read best.
You are not limited to one submission per production. Multiple designs for each work will be considered.
Selection Process:
The SBCT Art Selection Committee, will identify six (6) submissions to be used as promotional art during the 2017 season and archival artwork thereafter.
Should the Art Selection Committee receive an insufficient number of entries, we reserve the right to change the process to a direct selection or invitation process.
How to Submit:
Artists must submit entries electronically to:
Subject: 2017 Season Artwork.
Submit the images as JPEG/JPG attachments and/or zip file in a single email. The body of the email should contain the artist's name, contact information (address, phone, email) and list of works submitted.
Please note that if the maximum file size of 1MB per image is exceeded, the email may not reach us. To ensure delivery, you have the option of uploading the images to a Dropbox (or similar online file storage service) account from which we can download them. Please contact Marlon Deleon IN ADVANCE if you prefer this method of getting your images to us.
