The South Bend Civic Theatre is proud to announce the cast members for the March 2018 Production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In The Heights," directed by Paul Mow and Leah Tirado.
Co-Director Mow, after casting was completed, said "The excitement in the room for our first cast read-through was palpable. To be able to cast this production with a very high percentage of area actors of Latinx heritage is something truly special, not to mention their immense talents. "In the Heights" tells the story of the vibrant Latin American community in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood; a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
"In the Heights," celebrating its 10 year anniversary, is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations."In the Heights" features music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton") and a book by Quiara Algeria Hudes.
"In the Heights" will have its premiere performance at South Bend Civic Theatre on March 9, 2018.
