Mark Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life your favorite characters from the novel.

The award-winning score by Roger Miller is a brilliant celebration of pure Americana, based on "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", and told in two acts. Big River opens at South Bend Civic Theatre on Friday, May 5th and runs through Sunday, May 21st. Tickets are $20-22 for adults and $15 for children and youth. A limited number of student rush tickets will be available for $10 the day of the show.

Performances will be held on the Wilson Stage at the South Bend Civic Theatre, located at 403 North Main Street in downtown South Bend. The Director of Big River is Leigh Taylor, the Music Director is Roy Bronkema, and Choreographer is Mark Kosten, all frequent faces at the theatre.

South Bend Civic Theatre celebrates 60 years in existence this year and is the longest, continuously running civic theatre in the area. Future performances in the 2017 Season include The Wizard of Oz and Black Eagles in the Summer and Sister Act in the Fall. For more information, please call 574-234-1112 or go online to SBCT.org.
