SB Civic Children's Theatre to Present MALENI

The next installment in SB Civic's Children's Theatre Series brings to life the story of Maleni, based on book by Croatian author Andrea Petrlik Huseinovic. James Geisel directs his original adaptation of this children's book to be performed at SBCT. Performances are at 11am and 1pm on Saturday June 11th and 18th, and 1pm on Sunday, June 19th. In the story of Maleni, the evil citizens of Nevertown have banished him from their city just because he has joy in his heart. Travel along with Maleni in this captivating new play and see what adventures come his way.

Andrea Petrlik Huseinovi? is an award-winning Croatian illustrator and the author of 23 books for children. Well known in her native country, as well as throughout Eastern Europe and Russia, Huseinovi? received the Oita Biennial of Illustrations grand prize in 2004. Her illustrations have also been awarded the Grigor Vitez award and the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava Gold Plaque. She graduated in graphic arts from the class of Professor Ante Kuduz, Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Her works have been exhibited in Japan, Slovakia, Russia and France and her illustrations are part of International Collection at Chihiro Art Museum in Japan. Her children's books have been translated into numerous languages including German, Italian, and Russian. She is a member of Croatian Association of Artists.
