As part of their commitment to "Give Back" to the local arts community, Michiana PlayMakers will present a staged reading of Legs: A Spider Story, a new play by local playwright, actor and educator, Bill Svelmoe. The one night performance will take place at The Drop Comedy Club, 822 S. Lafayette Blvd., on October 26, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the South Bend Civic Theatre.
"We believe coming together as a community of artists will make for a stronger city and develop even stronger bonds within a very talented arts area," said Artistic Director, Crystal Ryan.
The play takes place in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where a group of friends meet at an isolated cabin for a relaxing weekend, only to discover that a mama arachnid has other plans. Described as creepy, campy, sexy and scary, Legs: A Spider Story is a love story spiced with suspense and the supernatural.
Actors Angie Berkshire, Michael Clarkson, Darlene Hampton, Laurisa LeSure, Mark Moriarty, Bill Svelmoe and Geoff Trowbridge make up the cast.
Admission is $10.00 per person and tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.michianaplaymakers.org. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door, pending availability. Seating for this event is limited so advance purchase of tickets is recommended.
Michiana PlayMakers is dedicated to the preservation and growth of the theatre arts and to the support of local theatre artists. The organization presents at least one new work each year by a local playwright, and continues to assist local actors, writers and directors in the development of their art.
