South Bend Civic Theatre will present Jerome Lawrence & Robert E. Lee's classic comedy Auntie Mame, directed by Mary Hubbard, will play the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium for the final time on May 22.
Before the musical "Mame" came along, the play had already won a huge following. This contemporary American classic was more than a Broadway hit and the basis for the popular musical - it set a standard for comic excellence we still strive to achieve on the stage. Auntie Mame - wildly carefree, witty and delightfully spirited - suddenly finds herself the permanent guardian for young Patrick. Raising him in her own unique fashion amidst her parties, world travels and eccentric life-choices is an adventure that is as funny as it is charming.
