For the past five decades, Broadway Theatre League has brought the best and brightest of Broadway to the Morris Performing Arts Center. The 2009-2010 series is an exceptional example. From the glamour of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE to the multi-media spectacle of RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES, Broadway Theatre League offers the thrill of live theater in South Bend. Individual tickets to all four shows go on sale beginning August 3. Tickets start at $22.50 and can be purchased at the Morris Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 574.235.9190.

The Broadway series kicks off with Tony ®-nominated THE WEDDING SINGER on October 9-10, 2009. Based on the film, which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, this heartwarming musical comedy follows wannabe rocker Robbie, a hopeless romantic, as he faces the highs and lows of being in love in the 80s. He meets Julia and a fast friendship quickly evolves into love. They both learn that sometimes the "right" one needs a little convincing. Set to the music of the 80s, this is an affectionate look back at the decade that brought us Miami Vice, big hair and leg warmers.

Next, the Series will transport audiences to the wonderful world of 1920s Broadway. Tony Award-Winner® THE DROWSY CHAPERONE dances onto the stage of the Morris January 29-30, 2010. This charming show speaks to anyone who has ever gotten "lost" in their favorite Broadway musical. This show-within-a-show is homage to the golden age of Broadway. THE DROWSY CHAPERONE features characters that have graced the stages of many musical classics: the misguided showgirl, over-the-top gangsters, a Latin Lothario and an unflappable British butler. AP News called it "Delightful, sparkling entertainment! You'll be over the moon!"

The 2009-2010 Broadway Series continues with the multi-media, multi-dimensional experience, RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES. Experience the best of the 60s on the Morris stage March 12-13, 2010. After four decades, the music of the Beatles is as relevant and important now as it was when it was first released. The band was loved by millions, but their concerts were only seen by a few and some of their most prolific work was never performed live. RAIN brings to life some of the most celebrated music ever recorded. This live tribute to one of the greatest bands of any century is, according to the Denver Post, "the next best thing to seeing The Beatles."

The final offering in the 2009-2010 Broadway series is the Tony Award-winning AVENUE Q, April 23-24, 2010. This hilarious show follows a character named Princeton as he enters, wide-eyed, into the real world after graduating from college. He moves into a building which is home to an out-of-work comedian, a slacker with a heart of gold, a straight-laced investment banker with something to hide, an internet addict and a cute kindergarten teacher. They all come together to discover love, friendship and the elusive purpose in life. This is a smart and risqué look at real life-think "Friends" meets "Sesame Street"-and is intended for mature audiences. According to Entertainment Weekly, AVENUE Q is "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see."
