The Bethel College department of theatre has announced the 2009-2010 theater season productions. Season tickets are $40 for adults and $36 for students and can be obtained now through Oct. 8 through the Bethel College ticket office.
"The Boys Next Door," by Tom Griffin, will be presented on Oct. 8, 9* & 10, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. This very funny, yet touching play focuses on the lives of four mentally challenged men who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of a sincere, but increasingly despairing, social worker.
The Bethel College department of music will present its Christmas concert: "The Whole World Rejoices!" on Dec. 4 & 5*, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 5, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. The Bethel choral ensembles and chamber orchestra will combine to present Christmas music from around the world. Resounding through the auditorium will be music celebrating global diversity and unity in faith. In our differences we will be reminded that there is one body and one Spirit ... one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father of us all. Soli Deo Gloria, to God be the glory!
On Feb. 11, 12* & 13, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., the theater department will present "Jane Eyre" the musical (book by John Caird, music and lyrics by Paul Gordon). Based on the classic novel by Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre is a haunting retelling of the Charlotte Bronte classic about an orphan girl who grows up to become the governess of Thornfield Hall. There she meets and falls in love with the enigmatic Edward Rochester, an earl with a dark secret. Filled with soaring melodies, Jane Eyre is a sweeping love story, breathtaking in its scope and beauty.
"Charlotte's Web," based upon the story by E.B. White and dramatized by Joseph Robinette will be presented on Mar. 25, 26* & 27, 2010, at7:30 p.m. All the enchanting characters will be here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer."
The Collegians and Voices of Triumph will present "Zeitgeist! An evening of musical entertainment" on Mar. 12, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This concert is available as an optional add-on to season tickets for only $3. Regular price for this concert is $5.
*These performances interpreted for the d/Deaf community.
