The Board of Directors of the South Bend Civic Theatre (SBCT) has named Aaron Nichols the executive director of SBCT. The executive director is the chief executive officer of the Theatre with oversight responsibility for programming, operations, and staff leadership. Nichols assumes leadership of the Theatre from Rebecca Bonham, who had served as interim executive director since August, 2016.

Nichols comes to SBCT from the University of Notre Dame, where he most recently served as Audience Development Manager for Shakespeare at Notre Dame. He also brings experience in human resources, communications, and operations from eight years of service with global manufacturer NIBCO Inc. Nichols is an active member of the local performing arts community, with acting and directing credits at SBCT, The Acting Ensemble, Elkhart Civic Theatre, the Notre Dame Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, and the Bethel College Theater Arts Department.

Nichols was graduated from Taylor University with a bachelor of arts in mass communications. He is presently completing an Executive Program in Arts and Culture Strategy with National Arts Strategies at the University of Pennsylvania.

Statement from Aaron Nichols:

"It is an honor to serve as the new Executive Director for SBCT. For over 60 years, we have been enriching the South Bend community through live theatre. Our award-winning productions, vibrant educational program, and spectacular venue put us on the map, but it's our diverse family of volunteers that makes us extraordinary. Your friends and neighbors, grandparents and godchildren become a community dedicated to a common goal. Join us as we create inspirational moments, powerful stories, and home-grown adventures together."

Statement from Terry Bush, SBCT Board President:

"Our board of directors and I believe in Aaron Nichols' ability to lead our community's Theatre, and I am very grateful to and proud of our board and search committee's extensive efforts to reach this exciting point. We appreciate Becky Bonham's interim leadership, and we are confident in and committed to supporting Aaron and our dedicated staff and volunteers to continue enriching the quality of life in our region."
