A young white girl, nicknamed Vaseline, raised by a loving elderly couple - a couple she knew as her grandparents. However, the discrepancies between how Vaseline looks and how she talks, making her an outcast among the children, and she was eventually sent to a children's home, where she will spend her formative years.
In the home, Vaseline infused life with the lives of children and adults with different backgrounds and value systems. It is between the influences of all these extremes that she must struggle to find her own identity.
Within the framework of the home, pack the story of Vaseline many sensitive topics such as racism, drug abuse, abuse, gang activity, prostitution, theft and sexual misconduct. In this world comes this "unmentionable" topics as mundane and ordinary - something that forces audiences to the different versions of "normal", with which children encounter in South Africa, to question.
