THE SOUND OF MUSIC at Artscape Opera House

Pieter Toerien, David Ian and The Really Useful Group will present Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC in South Africa this year. This return season of the 2014 South African production was a box office smash in its first season and garnered a flood of rave reviews from the local media. THE SOUND OF MUSIC tells the story of the Von Trapp family's flight across the mountains from Austria, with an unforgettable score that includes some of the most memorable and best-loved songs of all time, including "My Favourite Things", "Edelweiss", "Do-Re-Mi", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen", "The Lonely Goatherd", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and the title song, "The Sound of Music". With music and lyrics and music by the legendary Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, THE SOUND OF MUSIC features a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Billed as a must-see on the 2018 theatrical calendar, this lavish production features an all-star South African cast, back from an international tour. Carmen Pretorius and Andre Schwartz will lead the company as Marian and Captain von Trapp respectively.
